Working With Interpreters - Training Guide

Welcome to the Massachusetts Legal Services Training Guide to Working with Intepreters.  This training guide is designed for legal service advocates and service providers to learn about effective communication with individuals who are limited English proficient (LEP) or Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HOH) individuals when using an interpreter.

LEP individuals face cultural and linguistic barriers everyday when trying to access basic medical, legal, educational and other community services. These barriers often inhibit providers from delievering quality and timely services.

Texas Association of Healthcare Interpreters and Translators put together a public service annoucement that demonstrates the importance of language access.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO (2 minutes).
