Welcome to the Disability Practice Area section. This section focuses primarily upon government disability benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). If you want information about disability issues that do not concern SSI or SSDI benefits, go to the Disability Rights and Services section of this website.

Our goal is to use this website to keep advocates informed of new developments in SSI/SSDI law and practice, share practice materials and resources that are at the heart of disability benefits practice, and help make internet-based legal research accessible for advocates. To find legal eduction materials and information geared for the general public, go to MassLegalHelp.

Important Note About Access to Documents: While many of the materials in this section are available to the public, some, including administrative decisions, sample briefs, and other practice materials, are restricted to legal services staff and members of the SSI Coalition. In order to view the restricted materials, you must log in to this website. Logging in only takes a few seconds.

Resource Library Materials: Browse the library by category by clicking on a link in the sidebar to the left. If a listed category also has subcategories, you can find out what these are by clicking on the plus sign. Or, use the search, particularly if you want information on cross substantive issues.

Martinez Settlement:  For information about the settlement of the Martinez class action lawsuit, select that topic from the sidebar at the left, or click here.
