Federal Poverty Level increase

The US Department of Health and Human Services has just announced the 2018 increase (2.1%) in the federal poverty level (FPL) in the Federal Register, official tomorrow 1/18/18. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/01/18/2018-00814/annual-update-of-the-hhs-poverty-guidelines

This impacts many programs that use the FPL as an income threshold, including MassHealth. The ONLY change in SNAP-land for January is the 200% FPL gross income test.  This COlA does not impact the SNAP 100% FPL net income test or the 165% FPL gross income test for households living with a disabled senior - which change in October 2018 (fed fiscal year).

SSA COLA flier for elder and disabled households.

DTA created a really nifty flier to give to elder and disabled SNAP households who are confused about why their SNAP went down when their Social Security went up. Yes, it's confusing, but there are key deductions to screen for.

NEXT Boston SNAP Coalition Meeting:

Tuesday, January 23rd from 10-Noon, St Francis House, Boston.
