MLRI knows that right now it can be very hard to reach DTA by phone. Click here for a list of tips from MLRI on how to get help if you can't get through the DTA Assistance Line.

How do I reach DTA?

DTA has one main phone number called the DTA Assistance Line:  1-877-382-2363.

For older adults 60+, call the Senior Assistance Office: 833-712-8027

The Assistance Line has an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, which means some of the features are automated without talking to a human being. This part of the phone system is available 24/7, 7 days a week. If clients needs to speak with a real person, the line is staffed with case managers from 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM on regular business days. Learn more about the IVR here

If the caller has an active or pending case (is getting SNAP, has a pending application, or got SNAP in the past 90 days) then after selecting language press 1 to learn more about the case and reach a worker. If the caller does not have an active or pending case, press 7 to reach a worker right away when calling.

What if my client does not speak English?

This phone system has 6 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Haitian Creole. If clients speak a different language, they can press "7" to go into the queue for a worker who should provide an interpreter (during regular business hours).

What else should I know about the Assistance Line?

DTA clients also have the option to speak with a DTA supervisor, Assistant Director or Director if they are not satisfied with how the worker handled their case. They also have the right to appeal any decision they disagree with.

What to do if you can't get through:

Clients should be reassured that if they want to go into a local office, they have a right to do so and should be able to talk with a DTA worker in person at local DTA offices. Click here for a full list of tips from MLRI on how to get help if you can't get through the DTA Assistance Line.
