FoodSNAP

The Massachusetts House Ways and Means released a large Economic Development and Workforce Resiliency Bill yesterday, H.5007.  This package will be voted on this week, beginning tomorrow. Reps Andy Vargas and Mindy Domb have filed amendment #438 to include the Hunger Free Campus Initiative as a part of this important omnibus bill.

The Hunger Free Campus Amendment #438 will put into law key provisions to help MA public colleges (2 and 4 year) and minority serving institutions the ability to address food insecurity on their campuses. See fact sheet below.  Funding is not needed for fiscal year 2023 because of our successful efforts to get $3.7M of American Rescue Plan funding as part of the December 2021 ARPA package.

Please call your state representative TODAY and ask them to cosponsor the Vargas/Domb amendment #554. Your state Rep needs to sign on TODAY or tomorrow AM!  It’s critical we get as many of these members on this amendment as possible.
