Two Sign-On Comments to CMS on MassHealth 1115: Due Feb 3

Health-Law-Announcements
Hi everyone,
We're writing about two opportunities to sign on to comments to CMS about the MassHealth 1115 extension request. We've called out two issues where we thought comments to CMS are most needed- 1. urging CMS not to allow waiver of the Medicaid requirement of 3 months retroactive coverage and 2. uging CMS to approve something they have not yet approved when other states asked --Medicaid  coverage to people in prisons & jails 30 days prior to release.

1. Three months retroactive coverage

Reinstating 3 months retroactive coverage for everyone means NOT allowing MassHealth a waiver of this requirement for most adults under 65   CMS Sign On Letter -3 Months Retro

2. MassHealth for criminal-justice involved individuals

This is a separate letter strongly supporting MassHealth's initiatives to provide MassHealth during incarceration for 30 days prior to release from state prison or the county jails and to provide 12 months continuous eligibility for people after release from jails/prisons or DYS custody.  Many thanks to our Health Care CJI working group for their examples of the need for these initiatives & to the Center for Health Law & Policy Innovation for pulling the comments together.
