OLGT 2019-65: SNAP: Clarification Regarding the Verification of Identity

To issue SNAP benefits, the Department requires verification of identity. However, this requirement only applies to the grantee or primary applicant (or any authorized representative applying on the household’s behalf). No other household members are required to verify identity. For non-grantees, the household is required to provide a social security number (SSN), which can be electronically validated by SSA. This is a separate verification requirement.
