The Interagency Working Group on Limited English Proficiency (LEP), led by the Federal Coordination and Compliance Section of the Civil Rights Division, U.S. Department of Justice, has issued a Language Access Assessment and Planning Tool for Federally Conducted and Federally Assisted Programs (Assessment Tool).

The Assessment Tool was created to assist entities that receive federal financial assistance and federal agencies to comply with the language access requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its implementing regulations and Executive Order 13166.

The Assessment Tool helps your agency evaluate its current language access program; develop, assess, and improve policies, plans, and procedures and ensure effective communication at all points of contact between limited English proficient (LEP) individuals and agencies that receive federal financial assistance.
