Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) may be available for those in a federal disaster area whose employment has been lost or interrupted due to the disaster.  In particular, people who are self-employed may be eligible for DUA benefits, even if they would not otherwise be eligible for unemployment assistance benefits.  Currently, those living or working in Hampden or Worcester counties in Massachusetts  whose employment has been affected by the June 1, 2011 tornados may be eligible for DUA benefits.  The filing deadline is July 18, 2011.
