Coalition mtg Thurs @10, PINing video from City of Boston, retailer flier - please share!

FoodSNAP
A couple of reminders on the skimming situation below, and a new video from the City of Boston to circulate! Please let me - vnegus@mlri.org - know what you are seeing and hearing in your communities on this - and if you are working with anyone who had their SNAP stolen through skimming.

Special Coalition meeting this Thursday, 8/25 from 10-11 AM

We will be discussing skimming with a focus on DTA's efforts to protect certain households in Eastern MA by removing the PINs from their EBT cards. DTA will be attending and sharing information. If you are available and you work with families in Eastern MA, please prioritize this meeting. Come with questions, concerns, what you have been seeing, and ideas to get the word out! We have one hour and will have robust time for discussion and information sharing.

City of Boston video with information on how to re-PIN

MANY thanks to the City of Boston Office of Food Access & New England United 4 Justice for doing this 1 minute, 30 second video in record time. The video is posted here on FacebookTwitter, and Youtube. Please share widely!

The City of Boston is working on videos with captions in other languages - will share once those are ready.

DTA flier for retailers in Eastern MA & DTA resources

We are very worried that families in Eastern MA missed the notice and/or text from DTA and will not know their PIN has been removed from their card until they are in the checkout line and their card is denied. Please share the attached flier ASAP with retailers in Eastern MA and ask them to post this flier in their store and in check out lines.

DTA has posted general information on skimming as well as fliers and resources on how to re-PIN in 12 languages: Mass.gov/ProtectYourEBT, and in Spanish: Mass.gov/ProtejaSuEBT
