10. Do I have to wait long for DTA to review my disability information?

Unlike the way the Social Security Administration reviews SSI applications, the local DTA office must initially approve you for EAEDC benefits if the doctor states on the medical report that your disability meets a medical standard or affects your capacity to work for at least 60 days. 106 C.M.R. ยง 701.191(F)(1).

This means that you get EAEDC benefits even though DES has not received or reviewed the medical report. DES will then review the information to decide if they agree with your doctor and if so, how long the disability will last.
