The latest health law updates for advocates and social service providers in Massachusetts.

In his proposed budget for FY 16, the Governor is anticipating that MassHealth average annual enrollment will drop by 200,000 people between FY 2015 & FY 2016 due to redeterminations/renewals.

MassHealth suspended annual renewals for most people under age 65 from Oct. 2013 to Feb. 2015. MassHealth resumed annual renewals in February 2015. This year and next approximately 1.2 million people must complete a reapplication in order to have their eligibility redetermined under new rules that count households and income in a new way.

Subject: IMPACTS OF SERIES OF SEVERE SNOWSTORMS PUSHES DEADLINE FOR HEALTH INSURANCE APPLICATIONS TO FEB. 23
Information from the Massachusetts Office of Medicaid (EOHHS):

"On February 6, 2015 MassHealth will resume annual renewals for members under age 65. On that date we will outreach to approximately 105,000 households.  We will be mailing renewals in large groups initially rather than via weekly mailings.

Last Saturday coverage ended for up to 40,00 people on Commonwealth Care and 95,000 or more on Temporary MassHealth. These are my best estimates --we don't have the official count yet. (Waiting in the wings is a third group of people enrolled in Temporary MassHealth with a Feb 15 end date).

UPDATE: Due to the weather, the House of Representatives has moved back the deadline for co-sponsorship of bills until Wednesday February 4at 5:00pm.  Please consider contacting your rep. to co-sponsor these important bills.

Please contact your state Representative and Senator to ask that they sign-on as co-sponsors to the following bills.
