In the Matter of JT, FH# 2017-0786
Date:
Affirmed - DCF had reasonable cause to close the Appellant's (biological father's) case. The Department opened the family case after DCF was notified via 51A reports that the Appellant's two children were being physically abused by the aunt of the Appellant's ex-girlfriend, with whom the Appellant's ex-girlfriend and two children lived. Allegations of physical abuse were supported, and Appellant's ex-girlfriend and two children immediately moved away from the aunt. During the Family Assessment, no contacted collaterals reported any concerns about Appellant's two children or the care they were receiving from Appellant's ex-girlfriend (who the children have lived with full-time for years). Appellant's ex-girlfriend did not appear to be in need of any service and acted appropriately in moving out of the home of the physically abusive aunt.
