ABCD, DTA and Boston Housing Authority host Forum for SNAP Recipients on SNAP ARRA Cuts on Thursday, Nov 7th at 10 AM

FoodSNAP

See email below from the BHA announcing an important community forum on the ARRA cuts. According to ABCD staff, attendees will view MLRI's short ARRA cuts YouTube videos (English and Spanish) as well as receive materials produced by DTA, MLRI and Project Bread materials that explain the cuts, help SNAP households screen for deductions and learn about other resources. Boston DTA Office staff will be participating as well. Please pass this onto your Boston area clients.

For those of you outside of Boston, we encourage you to replicate this kind of event in your community.  Let us know if you need help doing that.

Subject: Invitation to the DTA/SNAP Forum November 7, 2013

Hello Everyone:

Some of you may have missed out on some previous emails for a special invitation to a Forum that the BHA is sponsoring along with the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), ABCD and Project Bread in regards to the cutbacks that have begun to the SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) Program.  Many low-income households have already been impacted and will be getting further cuts to their food benefits.  BHA wants to make sure that each family that has been or will be impacted is able to access other resources that could help supplement their food budget.  ABCD and Project Bread will be there to hand out these resources

The Forum will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Anna Mae Cole Community Center 10 Lamartine Street Extension (formerly known as Bromley Heath Hall) at 10am.  Continental Breakfast will be served.    If you work with families that will be impacted we strongly encourage you to forward this information.  LetÂ’s be proactive and get our families to this forum!!! Thank you all.
