Subject: IMPACTS OF SERIES OF SEVERE SNOWSTORMS PUSHES DEADLINE FOR HEALTH INSURANCE APPLICATIONS TO FEB. 23
On Monday afternoon we received word that USDA and DTA agreed to EXTEND the deadline for SNAP to February 18th (Wednesday) for certain SNAP households to request SNAP "replacement" or "misfortune" benefits. These are SNAP households who lost power for 4 or more hours as a result of January 26-28th Winter Storm Juno. The SNAP households who were impacted the most by this storm live on Nantucket and Cape Cod, mostly Provincetown. The original deadline for replacement benefits was February 8th.
Information from the Massachusetts Office of Medicaid (EOHHS):
"On February 6, 2015 MassHealth will resume annual renewals for members under age 65. On that date we will outreach to approximately 105,000 households. We will be mailing renewals in large groups initially rather than via weekly mailings.
