SNAP Cost of Living Adjustment and Boston Globe editorial on public charge

Oct 1 SNAP Cost of Living Adjustment - updated MLRI calculators
As of October 1, about 60% of SNAP households will see an increase of $1-$5 in their SNAP benefits (starting with their October SNAP).

Only about 2,000 households will see a slight decrease, and SNAP for everyone else will stay the same.
These changes are because of $1 increases to the maximum SNAP grant for households of 2 - 8 people, and also because of slight changes to the SNAP math.
MLRI has updated our online and excel SNAP calculators, along with our one page worksheet (attached).
Powerful Boston Globe Editorial on Public Charge:
We wanted to share today's editorial on public charge in the Globe - including a powerful story from an immigrant family who out of fear has closed their MassHealth, and a quote from Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders. We are very glad that the Baker Administration is clearly stating opposition to harmful changes - please share this article widely!.
“We’re going to do everything possible to make sure the voice of our state is heard on how negative and detrimental this proposed rule would be on Massachusetts residents and our state economy,” Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders said in an interview. “I think of public benefits as a step up for immigrants who are on their path to economic security.”

Reminder that you can listen to a recording from the Sept 24th Protecting Immigrant Families (PIF) webinar (you need to log in, give your email to listen in).
