SNAP Gap Action Alert - Call your Senator to ask to co-sponsor Amendment #271

On Friday night, 11/13/20, our SNAP Gap Senate CHAMPION Sal DiDomenico filed Amendment #271 to the FY21 Senate Ways and Means budget. This amendment would require the Baker Administration to use existing funding to create a common application option for health care consumers by June 30, 2021 (the end of the state fiscal year). Please call your State Senator and urge them to join Senator DiDomenico on the SNAP Gap amendment.  Let's get this done! #ClosetheSNAPGap #Tech4Food. MLRI's ABAWD lawsuit - Back SNAP payments going to 25,000 households starting Tuesday 11/17!

MLRI recently settled a lawsuit with DTA regarding DTA's failure to send a 10 day advance notice before cutting off ABAWDs. Great news! DTA is now issuing one month's worth of back SNAP to about 25,000 households. DTA is issuing the back SNAP payments on a staggered schedule - the first group will get SNAP on their EBT cards tomorrow, 11/17. Between now and mid December all 25,000 should get about $4.5 million in back SNAP benefits. The amount issued will be equal to the amount the ABAWD was getting when they were cut off in the past.

Reminder that there are NO work rules in place right now - folks cut off in the past due to the ABAWD time limit who have income below 200% FPL should reapply!!
