This is a reminder of tomorrow's (3/24/15) SNAP Coalition meeting, 10 to Noon at St Francis House in Boston (6th Floor). DTA Central and USDA New England Regional Office (NERO) staff will also be attending the meeting, per usual.
Attached is an updated fact sheet on the SNAP caseload crisis in Massachusetts. We do not yet have the January 2015 caseload data, but we have reason to believe that MA has suffered a 10% SNAP caseload drop since January 2014!
The AGENDA will include:
- An update on SNAP attacks in Congress. Please SIGN ON to the national petition against cuts to SNAP: http://frac.org/about/staff.
- Brief update on the FY2016 state budget process.
- Our SNAP crisis! The bulk of the meeting is dedicated to a blown discussion of the ongoing problems with DTA's "modernization" , rampant unfiltered data matching, and automated closures.**
We have consolidated a lot of information and "tips" on how to tackle SNAP closures and denials here:
** See TERRIFIC letter from our partners at the Greater Boston Food Bank to Governor Baker. We encourage you to tell your client's stories as well!
