Pro Bono Project to Help Students Excluded from School

Center for Law and Education (CLE)

CLE's Pro Bono Education Law Project, a collaborative partnership with the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at Harvard Law School and Choate, Hall and Stewart, provides direct legal assistance to low-income students throughout Massachusetts who are being excluded from public school through disciplinary exclusion or as a result of an ineffective/inadequate education.  This webpage has information about the project and about a Dec 2009 decision in federal court that found that zero tolerance by schools was not allowable and that schools must take into account the circumstances of an incident and of each student.
