Success in the Senate

Congratulations Oral Health Advocates!

I'm happy to report that the Senate has passed an amendment allocating $13M for MassHealth and$1M for CommCare to cover all fillings for all teeth starting in early 2014. This is slightly lower than the House's $17.2M, so the exact start date will need to be determined by MassHealth.

Next up is conference committee, where members of the House and Senate will sort out the differences between the two budgets. The good news is that funding for fillings is in BOTH budgets. The next challenge we face is convincing the conferees to accept the higher House level of funding.

Keep an eye out for an action alert for conference committee soon, but for now congratulations and thank you for your hard work! This is an important step forward and we'll continue to build on this momentum.

Thank you for all that you do!
