OLGT 2021-97: SNAP: Verification of Legal Obligation of Child Support from Unemployment Compensation

Date:
Author:
DTA

The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) verifies an individual’s legal obligation to pay child support at the time an unemployment claim is filed. DUA will withhold child support payments from an individual’s Unemployment Compensation (UC) payments if advised by the Department of Revenue (DOR) that child support payments have been ordered by the court.

DTA will no longer require clients with UC records available in UI Online, showing withholdings for child support, to provide proof of their legal obligation to pay child support. DTA staff can use the information found in UI Online to satisfy the verification requirements of an individual’s legal obligation to pay child support and proof of child support payments.
