In January, The Department will issue the annual Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Massachusetts Earned Income Credit (EIC), Child Tax Credit (CTC) and child care assistance informational mailing.  The mailing is scheduled to begin January 2, 2019. The mailing will be sent to all active TAFDC clients, certain former TAFDC clients whose cases closed on or after January 1, 2018, and all active SNAP households, excluding SNAP households receiving TAFDC, Bay State CAP or SSI. Note: TAFDC cases that closed during the 12 months preceding the mailing due to the death of the grantee and those closed because the client is no longer a Massachusetts resident will be omitted from the mailing. In addition, the Mass Cash Back website will be decommissioned and no longer available as of December 31, 2018.  Once the website is decommissioned, a user message will display to redirect clients to:  www.irs.gov/eitc for information on the Earned Income Tax Credit.  All TAO’s have been directed to remove Mass Cash Back posters.  A manually generated list of free tax sites has been obsoleted and is no longer available.  Free tax assistance sites can be located at https://irs.treasury.gov/freetaxprep/.
