Food SNAP Coalition Meeting Tues, 7/27; Boston SNAP Unit Office Directory; USDA outreach grants

1. Coalition TOMORROW: This is a REMINDER that the July Coalition meeting (and last one til September) is tomorrow, July 27th from 10 to Noon at St Francis House in Boston. Among other items, the agenda will include a presentation on the recent UI extension just passed in Congress, basic info on UI claims and extensions, and a discussion of the USDA-approved waiver for expedited FS/SNAP for UI terminated households not eligible for further extensions.

2. Boston SNAP Web Application Unit - Office Directory: Jeff Sullivan, Supervisor of the Boston Web Unit kindly sent on the attached updated list of staff handling Web application cases for the Boston area. Once we get the Springfield List, we will send on.

3. USDA Outreach grants: USDA recently issued an updated email reminding anti-hunger groups of the available federal outreach grants (up to $75,000). In the past few federal fiscal years Massachusetts groups have received these direct federal grants including the Goodwill Industries of Springfield in FFY 2009, the Community Action Program of Cape and Islands in 2008, Asian American Civic Association in 2007. 4. Boston Bounty Bucks calendar: Phoung Luong of Boston Bounty Bucks sent on the attached handy weekly calendar of the day, time and location of every farmers' market in Boston that accepts EBT and participates in the Boston Bounty Bucks program (gives SNAP customers half off their purchases). If other folks wish to share similar information, feel free to bring to Coalition.
