Dear Colleague Letter addressing concern that some children with autism are not receiving speech language services, and speech language pathologists may not be involved in evaluating students with autism although language issues are a suspected disability.  The DCL stresses that each child must be "assessed in all areas related to the suspected disability, including, if appropriate, health, vision, hearing, social and emotional status, general intelligence, academic performance, communicative status, and motor abilities (34 CFR §300.304(c)(4))."
