Get a preview of what the application process may look like in Medicaid and in the Exchange when major provisions of the federal health reform law take effect in Jan. 2014.
Starting as early as October 2013 there will be a new common application form for MassHealth and for the federal tax credits and cost sharing subsidies and state subsidies for the purchase of private insurance that are intended to replace Commonwealth Care in January 2014.
The on-line form is designed to provide real-time verification through electronic data matches.
The Secretary of HHS was charged with developing a common application form for states to use. Massachusetts plans to develop its own paper & on-line form subject to federal approval for it, but the Massachusetts form will be drawing on the federal model.
CMS has released information about its model paper & online application and is requesting comments by Feb. 28, 2013. On Feb 8 & Feb 11 CMS is hosting a webinar about its new application process.
