Boston Herald: MA Delegation Members Vow to Fight Against SNAP Cuts, 103 Org Letter Highlighted with Boston Elderly Veteran Who Relies on SNAP

Today's Boston Herald released a story this AM highlighting the MA Delegation's plan to fight against cuts and structural changes (block granting) to SNAP. As noted in the story, "This week, the Massachusetts SNAP Coalition and 103 other local groups signed an open letter to Bay State leaders demanding they reject cuts or structural changes to the nation’s federally funded anti-hunger and poverty programs."

Action Alert from Greater Boston Food Bank: Governor cuts MEFAP funding

The following alert is from our friends at the Greater Boston Food Bank. MEFAP was one of the programs adversely impacted by the Governor's recent "9C" cuts to the current fiscal year budget.  As SNAP Coalition members know, demand on food programs that rely on MEFAP has increased with the implementation of the 3 month SNAP time limit that took effect for thousands of MA residents in April of 2016.  Please make your calls this week!

Thanks to the great advocates at GBLS, we just received updated contact information for the local DTA Office Directors and Assistant Directors (names and direct phone numbers), as well as the Regional Directors who oversee these local offices.
