Updates to DTA Assistance Line--let us know what you are seeing!

On Monday, April 25, DTA updated the statewide Assistance Line. Attached is an updated phone tree with information about each menu option on the phone line. 

The good news: When selecting the option for current clients or applicants, the recorded information is shorter and more targeted so clients spend less time navigating the menu. If you are working with a current client and have their SSN and year of birth, you can find out the following early in the recording:

HSN Amendment not adopted

Despite the great leadership of our chief sponsor, Rep Christine Barber, and the support of 43 co-sponsors, the amendment (#1119) to preserve the pre-April 1st Health Safety Net rules, and to fund the program with an additional $15 million was not included in the consolidated amendment for Health and Human Services on Tuesday evening.

This means we will have to try to get the amendment adopted in the Senate budget, and then favorably dealt with in the conference committee. We'll keep plugging.

MLRI's fantastic AmeriCorps volunteer Zack Ezor has now created two YouTube videos to help you and your clients understand how to create a MAP and what documents and information your clients can find on it.

House Ways and Means released its version of the FY2017 budget today.  We have reviewed the line items and outside sections and will be issuing a detailed analysis of the DTA, MassHealth, child care, child welfare, housing, shelter, food and related line items later tonight or tomorrow AM.
