Field Ops Memo 2009-38: SNAP Elderly/Disabled Households and 24-Month Certification Period

The attached Field Operations Memo extends the SNAP certification periods for over 35,000 FS households. The 24 month certification period will include already elapsed months. These households will get a written notice of this change. Extending the certification periods means less contact for these househlds and less work for DTA workers to review the cases. This Field Operations Memo discusses the BEACON actions that implement this change; describes the related notice; and transmits case manager procedures for assigning certification periods for elderly/disabled households.
