The Virtual Gateway "Common Intake" application website (used generally by MassHealth providers who file a common MassHealth and SNAP application) includes detailed instructions for submitting FS/SNAP applications including what turns out to be the WRONG FAX number: 617/348-5093. This is an incorrect fax number (it belongs to the Central SNAP policy unit). We understand that client verifications sent by providers (or clients themselves) to this fax number may NOT have ever reached the SNAP worker or local DTA office. So, even though the number works properly as a fax, the documents were not regularly or properly collected and shipped to the appropriate SNAP office.
Here's the link to the Common Intake instructions with the incorrect fax number (which we hope will come off the website soon: http://www.mass.gov/Eeohhs2/docs/vg/common_intake/food_stamps_process.pdf And attached is the document itself - again, WRONG fax number on it.
IF YOU SENT DOCUMENTS to this number (617-348-5093) for a FS/SNAP applicant and the case was denied for lack of verifications (or your client got lower benefits because a deduction was not allowed), please contact the DTA Virtual Gateway Liaison immediately. If you cannot get a satisfactory result, let pbaker@mlri.org know.
The CORRECT and MOST UP TO DATE number to use for Web applications is: 617-210-5156. There is another fax number, 617-348-5954, which DTA has told us is valid (and documents sent to that number were preserved), but it is being phased out.
