Resources for Advising Low-Income Immigrant Clients re Benefits and Rights, Survey of Issues/Concerns

Wed, 04/12/2017 - 11:26am -- FoodSNAP

We've gotten a number of inquiries from Coalition members about the rights, protections and benefits available to immigrant-headed households.  We know these are uncertain times and there is a significant amount of fear and confusion out there. We also know that the media has leaked information about a draft Executive Order regarding immigrant uses of public benefits. This EO has NOT been issued. There is NO change in the federal and state laws with respect to benefits available, public charge, reporting of immigrants.

Please urge your Rep to co-sponsor Rep Livingstone's SNAP Gap/Common App Amendment #31

Tue, 04/11/2017 - 10:46am -- FoodSNAP

The House Ways and Means budget released its FY18 Budget yesterday. Unfortunately the budget does not include language or funding to close the SNAP Gap, although there continues to be deep concerns with the growing health care/MassHealth costs in the budget.

SNAP info from DTA! Unearned income verification, non-countable income, self employment, case narratives

Fri, 04/07/2017 - 3:01pm -- FoodSNAP

DTA recently updated a number of materials in the DTA Online Guide (policy manual for DTA staff). These updates were sent to DTA staff and case managers on Friday, 3/31, and are important for community partners to know!  For example, it can be helpful to point directly to DTA policy if you are talking with a DTA worker about a case issue.
