Springfield State St. DTA office change to SNAP processing center--no more walk-in services

Please see attached letter from Commissioner McCue regarding changes at the Springfield State St. DTA office.

TODAY, July 31, will be the last day for walk-in services at the State Street location. Starting on Monday, August 3, DTA will move services for walk-in clients to Springfield Liberty (95 Liberty St). The State Street office will be serving as a processing center for SNAP documents. DTA has sent notices to clients in the Springfield State catchment area about this change.

DTA has shared they will have bus passes at the State Street location if clients do come in person for services. DTA has also confirmed that if clients go to State Street simply to drop off documents those documents will be accepted and they will not be told to leave to drop documents off at Liberty St. Let us know what you are seeing.

The Springfield State office will be serving as a statewide processing center for SNAP documents, with the goal of helping address the delays in processing. This is different than the clerical staff at the Document Management Center (EDMC) in Taunton--the EDMC will continue linking incoming faxed and mailed documents to case records. The State St. office will be reviewing unprocessed documents that have been linked to a household's case and taking relevant case actions.

Please share with your networks in the Springfield area and keep us informed about what you are hearing from clients who may be confused by this change.
