Subject: New report on campus food insecurity

As someone who cares about poverty issues, I thought you might be interested in a report released today on food insecurity among college students.

Hunger On Campus: The Challenge of Food Insecurity for College Students” is the result of a nationwide survey conducted by the College and University Food Bank Alliance, National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, Student Government Resource Center, and the Student Public Interest Research Groups (PIRGs).

We surveyed students at 34 schools, including both 2-year and 4-year schools, making this the broadest survey to date on this issue. The findings were distressing – though probably not surprising to anyone who has been working in this field. The report also highlights some of the innovative ways that campuses are trying to support students in need.

The Washington Post covered the report's release. You can find their story here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/grade-point/wp/2016/10/05/many-students-in-need-have-jobs-and-financial-aid-but-still-go-hungry/
