Speak Your Languages, an effort spearheaded by Highline Public Schools, offers a free, online, self study training program specially designed for self taught interpreters and translators. Speak Your Languages offers three short introductory interpreter and translator courses for bilingual speakers who are interpreting and translating in their community or workplace, but have not had access to professional training.

The course is designed for bilingual advocates, novice interpreters and for interpreters who may not have had opportunities to take training classes taught by professional interpreters. The information in this course will increase your knowledge of professional interpreting skills and assist you in interpreting and translating clearly and effectively.

These self study courses are especially helpful for bilingual staff, volunteers or interns in legal services who are utilized to interpret client interactions and interviews or translate documents.
