This report and policy agenda published by Massachusetts Advocates for Children in 2005 reviews the research on trauma's impact on children's ability to focus, behave apporpriately and learn in school. The report also proposes a Flexible Framework schools can use to create whole-school environments that are trauma-sensitive. Finally, the report outlines the policy agenda of the Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative, the mission of which is to ensure that children who have been traumatized by exposure to violence and other adverse childhood experiences succeed in school.
