Word Document CLE flier for Elders on Elimination of Food Stamp Asset Test

Attached is a flier - jointly developed by DTA and MLRI - targeted for elders and which announces the new food stamp rules effective June 9th. A separate flier is being developed specific to persons with disabilities. Although elimination of the asset test affects all FS households (with the exception of certain households under sanction), this flier is designed for elder households who have low participation in the FS program and may be discouraged by the asset questions on the application.

DTA Food Stamp brochures for seniors (English and Spanish)

Attached are two brochures DTA recently created for distribution at the the 
Senior Benefits Expos, available in English and Spanish. The brochure highlights
a number of important changes in the FS program including elimination of the
asset test and the special two page application. It also notes that seniors are
eligible for telephone interivew (vs in person at the office). Note that these brochures are current as of this email but the net income
standards will be increasing October 1, 2008, as will the maximum benefit amount
and other changes triggered by the 2008 Farm Bil. See: http://www.fns.usda.gov/fsp/government/cola.htm
Hence, DTA will be revising this brochure with the updated figures effective

USDA has just issued a new, attractive Food Stamp brochure in Spanish and English for food stamp outreach - PDF attached. It includes specific information regarding immigrant status, public charge and ineligible immigrants applying for eligible members. If you use this brochure, please note that the gross income test in Massachusetts is HIGHER for families with children who are categorically eligible (200% of the FPL and not 130%).
