MassHealth Initiatives to Control Costs
Today's Boston Herald released a story this AM highlighting the MA Delegation's plan to fight against cuts and structural changes (block granting) to SNAP. As noted in the story, "This week, the Massachusetts SNAP Coalition and 103 other local groups signed an open letter to Bay State leaders demanding they reject cuts or structural changes to the nationâs federally funded anti-hunger and poverty programs."
The following alert is from our friends at the Greater Boston Food Bank. MEFAP was one of the programs adversely impacted by the Governor's recent "9C" cuts to the current fiscal year budget. Please make your calls this week!
Below is an email sent earlier today to the Ag/Nutrition staff members of the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation - both House and Senate. We have 103 local, regional and statewide organizations signed on. THANK YOU ! We received a very rapid response and terrific outpouring of support. You are terrific!

This can be a very handy list for trouble shooting cases. However, please DO try the DTA Assistance Line first before calling these folks. http://www.masslegalservices.

Thanks to a great turn out at yesterday's SNAP Coalition Meeting at St Francis House. We know these are tough and uncertain times, but having a strong community of caring advocates and social services agencies matters, a lot! We deeply appreciate your commitment to continue to protect and defend the programs that serve your low income communities, and to help applaud and support the Mass Congressional Delegation as they go forth to battle for low income Americans in Congress.
